Blue Chalcedony is a cryptocrystalline silicate mineral belonging to the Quartz family. It appears in large mass formations that are ideal for crafting, cutting, and tumbling. It forms through the deposition of silica from aqueous solutions in a variety of geological settings.
Blue chalcedony can be found everywhere in the world; however, the best spots where we can find them are Turkey, Namibia, and Montana.
Blue chalcedony has a transparent-to-opaque look and is coloured with traces of iron, copper, titanium and manganese. The gem displays various shades of blue from vibrant to pale, including as well greyer shades. It registers a 7 on the Mohs scale for hardness.
